Tallaght FM 107.2

Tallaght FM has been on air since February 1999 (originally Tallaght Community Radio) and aims "to promote a sense of community and social solidarity amongst the people of Tallaght and to act as a focus for the exchange of ideas and information, analysis and debate." Judge how well they manage this by tuning in between 12 noon and 10pm Monday - Saturday.

New programme launch

Tallaght fm wishes to announce A new programme launch the programme Celtic Heartbeat “Ballads and Craic” on Tallaght Fm 107.2 will be launched at the end of March featuring presenters Dermot Mc Guckin and Maud Chitiza this programme will produce a line up of our favourite Irish Ballads and Craic joined by friends from around the world.

Dermot says “after many months of research we have come up with a fusion of traditional ballads and inigious tribal music from around the world we have been very impressed by a contribution from the abroginal tribes of North East Arnhem Land in the form of “Yothu Yindi” and also with the South African music of resistence. All in all it will be certainly a programme with a difference, which we hope will appeal to a wide range of listeners.

Dermot Mc Guckin (Irish/Australian) and Maud Chitiza(Zimbaw) will present the programme every Tuesday night with a new time of 6.30pm. Amoung the Irish guest artists will be the Irish Brigade, Bik McFarlan, Christy Moore, beside high profile artists we will also be looking for local contributions from traditional Irish bands with something a little different to offer. Local Traditional Artists your invitation to join Celtic Heartbeat Ballads and Craic on Tallaght FM 107.2. We are currently running a competition for traditional balladers in the Tallaght area over the next couple of months we will be asking our listeners to select the winners in various categories, so if you have something to offer and feel that your good enough to be played on air we want to hear from you.
