Castlewarden Golf Club

Castlewardengolfclub.jpgCastlewarden Golf Club would like to introduce the people of West Cork to the facilities available at our Club House and Golf Course

The present Castlewarden House was built in the 1640's by the Percivall family. The 17th century house was built on the site of the original "Castle Warden" which was twice burned in the period 1641-1646. Parts of the very substantial basement walls date from 1555. The owners, since early Norman times were: de Hereford/Pippard/Butler family, 1636-1711; Palliser family 1711-1904.

The land around the house was for many centuries the demesne lands while the stone outbuildings were built in the 17th century. The moat was the site of the first Norman settlement in the late 12th century, when the area was known as Castrum Munitum.

The visiting golfer can be assured of a rewarding experience at Castlewarden.

Conveniently located just up the Naas Road, ten miles south of Newlands Cross, the club offers visitors (Green Fees and Societies) the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf in very pleasant surroundings.

Look out for wild life as you approach Castlewarden House at the end of its winding timbered avenue.

The course provides a challenge to golfers of all standards, with water hazards coming into play at several holes.

The lush fairways and well manicured greens make for a most enjoyable round of golf.

The clubhouse provides the perfect ambiance in which to review the golfing experience over a meal provided by Noel Walsh and his staff.

Castlewarden House is ideally situated just 500 yards off the Naas dual carriageway, the main Dublin to Cork/Limerick Road, and is around 2 miles from Kill, 6 miles from Naas and about 13 miles from Dublin.
